One of the impact organizations we have the longest history with in Nicaragua is Twelve Churches or "Doce Iglesias" ministry in Spanish.
Centered around Leon, Nicaragua and based out of Tallahassee, FL -- Twelve Churches has been working in Nicaragua for over a decade, investing in the local Christian church to help empower and encourage them to accomplish all that Jesus has called them to do.
Twelve Churches helps provide council and community to a number of churches, provides mentorship to their youth ministry leaders (this is where we have been involved since 2017!), operating feeding centers (which is a way of saying they feed 450+ children every day), they run an 11 acre farm, and much more to spread the love of Jesus.
Give 30A's Involvement with Twelve Churches
Campo Sagrado (Sacred Field)
An 11 acre farm reminiscent of heaven, Campo Sagrado is a beautiful haven farmland of Plantains, Guavas, Bananas, Papayas, oranges, lemons, coconuts, cocoa, almonds, watermelons, pineapple, dragonfruit, tomatoes, peppers, and more.
They also grow hundreds of chickens for meat and eggs.
In 2021, we identified an opportunity to help Twelve Churches reduce their greatest expense at the farm - the electric bill. * Another problem is rolling power outages. A major problem when irrigating crops in the dry season.
Nicaragua, a sunny country in Central America, is an excellent candidate for solar power - so the friends and community at Give 30A came together to fund the installation of 18 solar panels, an inverter, and 8 batteries --- enough to power the water pumps for irrigation and the bodega (storage room) for storing, washing and preparing the crops for the feeding centers + extra for sale.
In the future, we look forward to partnering with Twelve Churches to expand sustainable, healthy farm production and health education in the feeding centers.
